Star Wars.?
As we all know, there is no sound in space. so, why do we hear the sounds of an x-wing fighter’s engines or the sound of a proton torpedo being fired from an imperial star destroyer in george lucas’s Star Wars?

Good point. Perhaps you’re not hearing anything? Perhaps it’s the power of the force that’s making you THINK you hear stuff.
I’d much rather listen to the x-wing or the torpedo than to Luke’s now-infamous, “But I was going into Tashi Station to pick up some power converters!”
to make the movie more exciting….or perhaps the sound is heard in the ship firing the weapon or running the engine
It’s a movie, duh. Have you heard of a little thing we like to call sound effects?
Because you are outside space. You are like god, seeing and hearing in a way that the characters can’t.
Because it’s a movie and sound makes it more interesting.
Suspension of Disbelief is key to enjoying any movie in that genre!
Would you enjoy a movie where there is a dogfight in space and there was silence? Probably not. They add sound to make it more exciting and thrilling with the booming of the bass when a ship explodes.
Maybe your talking about SILENT WARS…!
