I’m Having Really Bad Time Playing Star Wars The Force Unleashed How Do I Bring The Destroyer Down?

i’ve no problem with the tie fighters but that bloody ship just won’t come down? how do i know if i’m breaking it? there’s a red mist between the controls i suppose to use. will some in plain english explain, thanks
